Today, we wanted to share a feel good story that’ll be sure to leave you smiling…
For the month of August, several nurses at the Prince of Wales Hospital stepped up to the Step Forward challenge. What started as a small ward activity among co-workers, quickly grew into a hospital-wide challenge that involved staff from physiotherapists to pharmacists, ward doctors and even the cafes down the street.
As word spread, the friendly competition stepped up to a new level with Lisa – the legend who reached out to us to organise the challenge – recruiting the local coffee and pizza shop. The stores were more than happy to help and provided free coffee and pizza vouchers to those who achieved the most steps for the week. In one day, Lisa herself managed to hit over 42,000 steps!
It’s safe to say that we’re blown away by this effort and as the team approaches the end of their challenge, we can’t wait to hear what else they accomplish. Through the challenge, Lisa has been able to support her fellow co-worker’s mental and physical health through promotion of an active lifestyle and some healthy competition. All feedback received has been immensely positive and plans are underway to extend this challenge as Sydney’s lockdown continues.
Here at Step Forward, supporting our community’s health is of the highest importance to us. As a small token of our deep appreciation and thanks to the amazing work these frontline healthcare workers do every day, this challenge was offered free of charge. We’re so glad the Prince of Wales Hospital has been loving Step Forward and look forward to continuing to support them.
